What’s On: Summer Days Festival, Clitheroe

As festival season approaches I’m certain that 2016 is set to be the most jam-packed yet. Clitheroe Castle is set to be transformed into the perfect setting for Summer Days Festival on 6th, 8th and 9th July 2016.

As it plays host to the three day music extravaganza, with 2 stages and featuring over 30 artists, there will be music to suit many different tastes.

Simply Red and Gabrielle are in attendance on the Wednesday, and I’m looking forward to a day of feel good music and great food. I should imagine many will also partake in a light ale or two!

Confirmed Acts

In addition to those, Wednesday 6th July will also welcome Peter Hook and The Light, Mike Peters of The Alarm. The Christians, Roachford and DJ Rusty Egan will also be performing on the first day.

Friday performances will be from Caro Emerald, Shed Seven, The Farm, Space and Neville Staple, with the night being topped off by the wonderful Jools Holland & His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra!

The grand finale on Saturday 9th welcomes Everything Everything, Circa Waves, Lightning Seeds and John Power, with headliner Echo & The Bunnymen.

So really the biggest task is to decide which day you want to go.

Clitheroe is one of my favourite towns. It has a lovely town centre, a thriving market and is easily accessible by train, road and bus. The main attraction to Clitheroe though is the castle, so to have the festival there is a real positive.

Organiser John Tyrrell says:

“We’re delighted to announce these additions for Summer Days Festival. There are some incredible artists across the three days and there really is something for everyone.

“We’ve still got some surprises up our sleeves with more acts and experiences to announce so watch this space. Summer Days is going to be truly spectacular!”

Based on that, I’m looking forward to seeing what other entertainment there will be.

An Artisan market, food village and real ale garden are fabulous additions to the musical lineup. If you fancy upgrading there’s also an option to attend as a VIP. Go on – treat yourself!

Tickets are available in advance from the Summer Days Festival website, at The Grand Venue in Clitheroe or via the Simply Red website for Wednesday 6th July. Prices start from £59.50 per day plus booking fee.
