Last summer we spent a week on the Norfolk Broads with my husband’s family, and it was one of the most enjoyable holidays we’ve ever had. This photo sums up just how relaxing it was as we meandered around the waterways at a snails pace, not really heading anywhere in particular. Even the boys seemed to be marginally calmer when surrounded by such tranquillity.
Don’t be mistaken, there is more to these waters than peace and quiet. I heard a whisper actually that there’s a pub for every day of the year on the Norfolk Broads. I tried a few on this holiday but I reckon there’s a challenge in there for someone with a spare year and a boat!
The boys loved being able to drive the boat ‘by themselves’ (very carefully guided by Grandad of course!) and even managed to do a spot of fishing in the evenings off the back of the boat. It really is a very slow and relaxed pace of life. A welcome change to the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day.
