When Jacamo asked if he would like to try a couple of items from their website I handed my husband the computer and asked him to decide what he thought he would actually wear. After much deliberation, we ordered a pair of boots and a shirt. Both came in earthy, natural colours which seem to be what he plumps for most of the time.
Boots
My husband is very much an outdoorsy person so it came as no surprise to me that he’d ordered these Snowdonia walking boots. I’ve previously reviewed a Snowdonia coat for myself so I was expecting a good quality product.
When the boots arrived I wasn’t overly impressed, if I’m honest. The finish looked a bit shoddy, and the sole looked kind of unfinished; a bit scruffy even. But the proof is in the pudding, as they say, so my husband wore them to work (on a farm) and to walk the dog. As it turned out, the slightly untidy look of the finish on the boot didn’t matter much. They are comfortable, properly waterproof and really hard wearing. I would recommend these as a walking boot but not as a fashion shoe (which isn’t what they’re supposed to be anyway). The sizing is accurate and my husband was able to wear his thickest socks with the boots without any discomfort.
Shirt
The second item my husband ordered was a long sleeved khaki military style shirt. The shirt is really well made, with the buttons properly sewn on. It’s thick enough to be worn without a jacket when the weather is slightly warmer, and the material is soft and comfortable. The cuffs can be turned up for a more casual look and the option to order the shirt in a longer length was brilliant because when you’re 6′ 3″ tall, regular length shirts aren’t always long enough.
The one thing Jacamo can be relied on for is their tall and plus size options for men. Longer length trousers, jeans, t-shirts and shirts are hard to come by for taller people. This makes retailers like Jacamo really important for people like my husband who struggle to find the right fit.
