I’ve never really been at the forefront of fashion. I wear clothes I’m comfortable in and I never spend a lot of money on clothes for myself. One of the items on my list of things to do before I’m 40 is to spend £500 in one clothes shop on clothes for myself. Coupled with my wish to lose three stone I think that’ll be something I do once I’m happy with my size and shape, so for now I’ll carry on with my inherent bargain hunting skills and wear what I can a) afford and b) feel good in.
Being fashion-shy and frugal isn’t helpful when you find yourself needing new clothes. As Autumn arrived I found that I literally had nothing half decent to wear, so I’ve treated myself to some new wardrobe items.
This one is from everything5pounds.com as a jumper dress, but it only went to size 14 and I usually wear either 14 or 16 depending on the retailer. Considering it was only a fiver though I decided to chance it, and I’m glad I did! It’s a bit tight and short on me as a dress but makes a great Autumn jumper. I’m really pleased with it and I can see it becoming one of my favourite items.
Two other little treats this week arrived from my lovely Ted. He saw I was feeling a bit fed up and treated me to a new dressing gown and some super cosy totes slipper boots.
The dressing gown is super soft and cosy, and is from TK Maxx. The slippers are from the same shop and are by Totes. I particularly like that they have a fairly substantial sole for when I’m nipping to the bins or letting the dog out (oh, what a glamorous life I lead!).
I love having new things to wear but it isn’t often I feel really good in anything I buy. I think it’s time for a shift in attitude. Stop not buying things because they won’t look right and start buying things I feel good in instead.
