A change of direction

Here I am at the start of another year, hoping to write more than one blog post in the next twelve months.

I think that my life has changed direction and purpose so much over the last few years that this blog wasn’t serving any sort of purpose any more. It wasn’t bringing me any sort of joy of entertainment and had become nothing more than a chore. But that doesn’t mean I should let it go, I don’t think. I think instead that That Lancashire Lass should grow and change alongside me. It is, after all, something that has been a part of my life for over 10 years and I kinda miss it!

Contemplating what I was going to do with my slice of the web I wondered, rather than scratching around for ‘on trend’ content and trying to keep up with the young ‘uns, isn’t it perhaps better to just stay true to myself and genuine in my written word? Blogging has changed almost beyond recognition when I look back over the years, but that doesn’t mean I can’t – or shouldn’t – keep going.

My life now revolves mainly around home educating my youngest two children, working as a carer, growing my own small business in complementary therapies and trying to juggle the rest of what’s expected of us all in this modern day world. So it makes sense to just blog about those things, since they’re providing ready made content for me anyway. There may well be the odd bit of sponsored content thrown in if I’m lucky, but I can’t see this being a source of income for me any more; blogging has shifted too much for me.

Tomorrow I’m going to publish our educational plans for the coming year. It might be nice for readers to see what home education looks like in our house (and literally nobody else’s since it’s not the same for any two families). Readers of the blog might also like to see some of the fun stuff we get to do throughout the year and if they don’t, well it will serve as an excellent source of evidence for the Council’s EHE team.

If you’d like to come along for the ride during 2022, please sign up for a weekly email from me (the settings for which probably need updating my end – something for me to do after publishing this). If you’d rather keep it social, follow the blog’s Facebook or Instagram page and say hi over there.
