This week the book I’m featuring is one of my eight year old son’s new favourites. We bought Moon Man whilst we were at the Just So festival last month and it’s been read many times already.

A story of differences, rejection and acceptance, Moon Man gave us the opportunity to discuss why people fear what they do not understand and how we can be more accepting of others, whoever they may be. We talked about what it might feel like to be hunted down because you are different to those around you, and whether or not it was right for Moon Man to be subjected to the treatment he received.

The illustrations in the book are beautiful, with Tomi Ungerer skilfully providing both the content and the artwork for the book. There are many other books by the same author and we’re looking for more to add them to what will be a wonderful collection of story books by Tomi Ungerer.

What are you reading this week?
