I am of the view that the purpose of school is to provide a basic education to every pupil in its care, and the purpose of parents is to nurture those children and that education until they reach their full potential. That’s why websites like Education Quizzes are important. They allow families to access learning resources for and with their children which tie in with the UK National Curriculum, meaning all the extra work you do at home will contribute to and support their school education. The primary objective of Education Quizzes is to help children to be successful at school, right from the day they begin Key Stage 1.
Teachers write all the quiz content and so the content is current and accurate in each learning area. Parents can therefore have confidence that what they are learning and revising with their child will be the same as is being taught in school. Navigation of the site is pretty good. Study of the school curriculum is made easy and enjoyable with suites of KS1, KS2, 11-Plus, KS3 and GCSE quizzes. Simply choose your preferred Key Stage, then your subject, and then select the quiz you want to take.
These are just a handful of the quizzes available for GCSE Physics. Quizzes are quite in-depth and every topic is well covered. If I’ve learned one thing looking around this website it’s that I wouldn’t pass many GCSEs if I was to take them again now!
The whole website is worded in clear, non-confusing language making it easy to use for every learner, and each subject page has a quick overview of what is covered.
Something I particularly like about Education Quizzes is that pupils don’t need to finish the whole quiz before they know whether or not they have answered correctly. If they give an incorrect answer, the website will immediately advise them of the correct option. More importantly, it will explain the correct answer too.
Correct answers are explained too, reinforcing the pupil’s existing knowledge. Useful if they are taking an educated guess and need a little reassurance.
Another part of the Education Quizzes website is the Nature Matters section. We as a family are passionate about nature and the outdoors so this part of the site is one of my favourites. More of an information hub or blog, this is still education but presented in a different way. Great for younger children to read with their parents or for older nature enthusiasts to enjoy on their own.
Access to the entire Education Quizzes site is payable at £9.95 per month on a subscription basis. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time and there is no contract. For even better value, schools can take out a subscription membership and offer it to pupils. Depending on the number of students at a school, it is possible for them to sign-up students for as little as £2.00 per year. OFSTED would like that too, I reckon, and so it’s a win/win situation for all.
