spring menu title

There aren’t many days left of the Easter break for the boys now and they’ll be back to school on Monday. So when Table Table invited us to come along to their John Milne restaurant in Milnrow, I thought it would be a lovely treat for me to take the boys for a meal before they head back to school dinners.

Table Table have just launched a new spring menu so I opted for something new for the main course and dessert, though I couldn’t say no to the potato dippers for a starter!

Louis opted for a garlic bread starter and Rowan chose nachos, both from the kids menu.

The starters were fair portions, both adult and kids sizes. The food was hot when it arrived and there was only a ten minute wait between ordering and the arrival of the starters despite the restaurant being fairly busy.

The staff were very friendly and professional, and the service was efficient. I was served by Amanda and Tina and although they were both aware that I was there to carry out a review, I observed the customer service they were providing to the surrounding tables and each table seemed happy with the service they received. I got the impression that one table were regulars and the rapport between server and customer was great.

Our main course arrived no longer than another ten minutes after we’d finished our starters. I went with the server’s recommendation of Chicken Forestiere with a side of seasonal vegetables. I let the boys choose their own food options today, so Louis and Rowan went with fully healthy(!) choices and ordered a hotdog and and popping chicken, though they did incorporate some vegetables at least.

The Chicken Forestiere was delicious. I didn’t actually need to order the vegetable side as there would’ve been ample food without it, but the green beans and spring greens were a lovely addition to an already satisfying dish.

The boys both enjoyed their food with Louis even scoring his meal a healthy 4.5 out of 5. I’m not sure what he would do to improve it though because he also deemed it to be ‘well good’.

Rowan polished off every bit of his meal too and to my surprise they both said they had room for dessert. Louis actually went into great detail about how he has 3 chambers inside – one for each course! So naturally the dessert chamber was yet to be filled. I do love kids’ imaginations.

For dessert we opted for Apple Tartin (me), Graveyard Horror (Louis) and a Scary Face Sundae (Rowan).

The boys thoroughly enjoyed their desserts but Rowan in particular had fun making a scary face ice-cream from the ingredients with which he was provided. My apple tartin was delicious but unfortunately it did beat me and I couldn’t finish it.

The drinks we had were all refillable soft drinks.

I’d recommend Table Table for the friendly service, the relaxed atmosphere and the great value for money. Our bill totalled £39.53 and as described covered 3 courses each for the three of us plus one refillable soft drink per person.
