Today, 4th March 2023, Go Outdoors Blackburn will be relaunching their newly refurbished store after weeks of hard work, and some big changes.
Showcasing its brand new look including a huge map of outdoor spots in the local area and a giant photograph of local landmark Darwen Tower, GO Outdoors Blackburn will be the hot topic of the day when brand ambassador and Strictly star Helen Skelton cuts the ribbon at a Grand Opening Event today, Saturday 4th March.
Helen will cut the ribbon at 9am, then Store Manager Rob will be on hand to greet the first 100 customers through the doors with a free goody bag and gift voucher. The celebrations will continue throughout the day, with family favourites including face painters and balloon modellers in-store.
Helen will also be handing over a cheque to a representative from Mind for all the proceeds raised during a hugely successful GO Outdoors charity fundraising campaign ‘#HatsOnForMind’, which has already surpassed its £100,000 fundraising goal.
I visited the store myself this week and had a chat with Rob, the store manager. Rob has been at GO Blackburn for six years and says he wouldn’t do anything else. He has a clear dedication not only to his store, but also his team and the high morale between team members was obvious. I met some staff members whilst visiting and each one of them was friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable.
GO Outdoors Blackburn stocks an impressive fishing department and Rob tells me there is a massive demand for fishing equipment locally. The array of ‘bits and bobs’ neatly displayed along the walls is a sight to behold!
Did you know that GO Outdoors employs people based on their passion for the outdoors? Their cycling section is manned by an expert in bikes, their fishing section by keen fishermen and the camping section is overseen by enthusiast Paul, who gave me some great tips on how to get a better nights sleep on an airbed! I’ve been camping for 40 years and I thought I’d tried everything… apparently not!
There really is something for everyone at GO Outdoors – there are supplies for camping, cycling, horse riding, hiking, fishing… the list goes on. Of course, this is all in addition to the huge clothing range on offer for every member of the family (even the dog!). When I was there the staff were preparing the shelves to stock water sports equipment too.
The 30,000+ft store employs a team of 36 and offers services such as boot and rucksack fitting, as well as collection and drop-off points for parcels from online orders, UPS and DPD collections.
To celebrate the store’s new look, GO Outdoors Blackburn is offering all customers an extra 15% off everything from 28th February to 13th March 2023.
So whether you’re looking for a new picnic blanket to keep in the car (I picked one up for less than a tenner) or a brand new family tent for summer, it would be more than worth your while to take a look at GO Blackburn. In fact, if you are buying a tent the store’s tent field will also be opened on 4th March so visitors can get a much better feel for their potential temporary abode. Not sure what you need? Check out my camping checklist for newbies.
GO Outdoors Blackburn’s address is: Throstle St, Bank Top, Blackburn, BB2 1TQ. Parking is ample and the store is fully accessible, including a fully accessible fitting room.
Thanks to GO Outdoors for inviting me to take a look at their lovely refurbished store in order to write this post, for which I received in-store vouchers.
