For day 4 of our #30DaysWild challenge Louis wrote a poem about his favourite creature: the bat.

We have spent a lot of time as a family looking at and talking about bats. We even sponsor one in Louis’ name through the Bat Conservation Trust.

We have visited all manner of sites with our bat detector – it really is the most brilliant device to track those curious flying mammals after the sun has gone down.

Louis thought it’d be a good idea to write a little poem about bats. Louis is more interested in watching the football than doing any kind of extended writing task though, so an acrostic poem seemed a good option.

Bats: A Poem, by Louis

bats poem

Bats are the only flying mammal in the world

Air acrobatics is how they fly

Twilight is their favourite time of day to find their prey

Sonar is how they echo locate

(Thanks once again to Twinkl for another perfect resource!)

Do you have a favourite animal? Why not write your own poem and leave it in the comments section of the blog.
