I love to hear about fun family events in our local area, so I was really pleased to hear that Art on the Run is coming to Prestwich, Manchester in 2017.
Art on the Run is set to be a ridiculous amount of fun
Even better, when I read that this 5k family fun run was being organised by Wild Rumpus I knew it wouldn’t be an average event. Wild Rumpus are experts in alternative family fun, producing large scale outdoor family arts events in natural environments. I have covered their A Day at the Lake and The Lost Carnival events before, so I know they love to stand out from the crowd with magical ideas. Wild Rumpus have teamed up with Forestry Commission England to bring Art on the Run to Manchester, and it looks set to be the most fun you’ve ever had while exercising!
Richard Topley, Forester for LIVIA at Forestry Commission England says: “We are delighted to be able to host the “Art On The Run” event at LIVIA. The woodland has developed over the last few years and this event is a great chance to open the doors to a wider audience and invite families to enjoy the site in a different and unusual way. LIVIA is host to a wide range of habitats and wildlife, and being stone’s throw from Manchester City Centre it’s a great place to spend a day walking, cycling or running!”
But what is it?
Art on the Run is a 5k family friendly fun run through woodland. There will be music and entertainment, fancy dress and medals all round when you reach the finish line!
The event will take place at 11am on 21st May in LIVIA Forest, Prestwich. LIVIA is part of the Irwell Sculpture Trail and made up of many community woodlands and nature reserves. After lots of work, LIVIA now provides a wonderful haven for all manner of wildlife. Actually, LIVIA runs through Clifton Country Park where I went into labour last year. I hope Art on the Run isn’t quite so eventful as that!
Guidelines suggest that the run is suitable for children aged four and over due to the distance covered. It is pushchair friendly though, and I’m sure little ones will love to see all the wonderful costumes. Dressing up is definitely encouraged!
Tickets are priced from £10 for children and £20 for adults, available from the Art on the Run website. All participants need a ticket.
PLEASE NOTE:
Tickets are ONLY available in advance and cannot be purchased on the day. Book now!
